Sophia Barrett is the FQUAN Director. She is responsible for the development and implementation of quantitative reasoning classes at the college. In addition to her teaching duties for FQUAN and Psychology, she conducts ongoing research in the area of auditory distraction and reorientation. She is also an adviser in the Psychology Department and an active member of the General Education Committee that determine college curricula.

CCNY features 16 varsity sports, eight for women (Volleyball, Soccer, Tennis, Cross Country, Basketball, Fencing, Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field) and eight for men (Soccer, Cross Country, Basketball, Baseball, Tennis, Volleyball, Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field), and one club sport (Men's Lacrosse).
Combined, the 16 CCNY varsity programs have captured a total of 54 City University of New York Athletic Conference championships since 1966. All teams strive for excellence, and are firm believers in teamwork making the dream work.

(Sept. 15, 2008) - The City University of New York Athletic Conference announced its weekly volleyball award winners Monday afternoon, and CCNY junior Floriana Garo was tabbed as Player of the Week after hitting .346 to start the season for the BeaversThe reigning CUNYAC Player of the Year opened up her season in a big way during the Beavers' 2-1 week (2-0 CUNYAC), averaging 3.5 kills, 1.0 aces and 1.7 digs per game while hitting .346 (35-9-75). She opened the year against NCAA participant Montclair State (Sept. 10) with a conference-high 20 kills, 14 digs and three assisted blocks. In Saturday competition against conference foes John Jay and Medgar Evers, Garo combined for 15 kills (.400 hitting pct.) and served up 10 service aces against the latter squad.
