Recreational Sports

Mission Statement
The mission of the Intramural and Recreational Sports program is to provide opportunities for participation in sports activities that address the recreational and athletic needs of the CCNY community. The recreation program specifically focuses on the promotion of fitness as a lifestyle through activities such as weight training, recreational swimming, basketball, soccer, and cardio training.

The specific goal of the intramural program is to provide a high level of competition within a safe and equitable sporting environment. Although many of the intramural activities are the same (swimming, basketball, soccer, etc.) as the Recreation program, the primary difference is that Intramural activities are generally organized as competitive athletic events.

Medical Screenings
A valid CCNY I.D. with a valid medical clearance sticker is required for entrance to all recreational facilities and for borrowing athletic equipment. All medical stickers issued this semester will be valid until the Fall semester of 2010. CCNY students may receive a health screening free-of-charge from the CCNY Wellness and Counseling Center in room J-15 of the Marshak Science Building.

Regular Medical screenings for the Fall 2009 semester will begin, September 08, 2009. No one will be permitted use of any recreational facility or activity without a valid medical sticker after October 2, 2009.
