    Topic: Intellectual Property (IP) Considerations for Entrepreneurs

    Are you deciding on a name for your company? Working with a new collaborator? Is someone building your web page or app?  In all of these situations, you need to protect your intellectual property (IP). This seminar will help you identify several different types of IP and show you ways to protect them.  The seminar will also describe what every entrepreneur needs - freedom to operate. Finally, the seminar will describe the role of IP in company financing, monetization, and commercialization.   

    Guest Speaker

    Sandra Brown, Ph.D., is a distinguished alumna of Hunter College, where she earned her BA/MA in Physics.  Following that, Dr. Brown earned a law degree from the Fordham University School of Law and a Ph.D. in Physics from M.I.T. Now an associate with Cooley LLP, she is a member of the Patent Counseling & Prosecution practice group, Dr. Brown has extensive experience in procuring domestic and international patent protection in various fields, such as computer hardware and software, nanotechnology, semiconductor devices, mechanical devices, medical devices and bioinformatics.
