Benefits to Community Partners

When it comes to Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR), community partners are motivated by a range of meaningful opportunities. In particular, this includes the potential to:

  • Access campus resources (research expertise)
  • Advocate for policy change
  • Build bridges across sociocultural/political barriers
  • Obtain funding
  • Demonstrate/address inequities and injustices
  •  Demonstrate the impact and public value of a particular program or community-based initiative (evaluation)
  •  Improve services and programs
  • Identify gaps in services
  •  Develop an intervention to a community-identified problem
  • Develop empirical evidence/data needed to strengthen existing advocacy and policy change efforts.
