Center Accepting Proposals for Two Leader-in-Residence Positions

Leaders in Residence are mid-career professionals with subject matter expertise in one of the Powell Center’s key outreach areas (education, health/health-care, community and economic development, the environment, and international development.) Leaders in Residence serve as visiting practitioners at the Center for a period of at least one calendar year. The position is composed of two main elements:

  1. a residency project and
  2. an applied research project with students in the Partners for Change Fellowship.
  3. Leaders in Residence will also engage with the Powell Center’s internal capacity building and partnership development.
The Powell Center is currently seeking Leader-in-Residence applications and research proposals from practitioners, policy-makers and advocates in the field of international development and community and economic development.

Proposals for International Development
Proposals should focus on, but are not limited, to the following areas:

  • Alleviation of poverty and hunger
  • Universal education 
  • Gender equality 
  • Child and maternal health 
  • Environmental sustainability

Proposals for Community and Economic Development
Proposals should focus on, but are not limited, to the following areas:

  • Access to affordable housing for low and moderate income New Yorkers
  • Advocacy on behalf of New York’s homeless population
  • Resources to support small business development in under-resourced New York communities
  • Workforce development and training
  • Youth development in non-school settings
