Ashraf Elzanie
New York Life Undergraduate Scholar, 2012-2014
Ashraf Elzanie is a third-year student at the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education. Pursuing his lifelong dream of becoming a physician has exposed Ashraf to the importance of public health and its profound effects on a community. As a result, he is adamant about applying the knowledge and skills he has learned throughout his education to make a positive change in underserved populations. While participating in research at a childhood obesity clinic affiliated with Maimonides Medical Center, Ashraf witnessed the benefits of treating a problem early, rather than waiting for compounding issues to arise. Therefore, he is a strong believer in taking important preventative steps to invest in a healthier future. Ashraf ultimately is interested in working with public officials to generate positive change in underserved communities and in directly serving the needs of the people.
