Maxime Montour
New York Life Undergraduate Scholar, 2012-2014
Maxime Montour is majoring in biology with a minor in African-American studies and a concentration in the pre-medical sciences. She is also interested in the social implications that underlie health disparities in underrepresented racial and ethnic groups. Maxime has interned at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital, served as a volunteer advocate for early childhood literacy with the Reach Out and Read program at Harlem’s Charles B. Rangel Community Health Center, and was part of a service-learning team at Harlem Hospital. Maxime is currently a tutor at the SEEK PAL Center at CCNY. Maxime says participating in these programs has strengthened her desire to serve her community and to significantly impact the lives of others as well as her own. An aspiring pediatrician, she hopes to promote preventive health-care practices in young adults and to address some of the health disparities that affect individuals who lack access to adequate health-care services.
