Narwan Madani
Dobrich New Americans Scholar, 2012-2014
Narwan Madani, a native of Afghanistan, is double-majoring in Jewish studies and international studies. Narwan’s goal is to pursue a law degree and focus on women’s rights and immigration policies to assist vulnerable women in the developing world. From a very young age, Narwan travelled the world and lived in various countries from Afghanistan, to Pakistan, India, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, and now the U.S. Her interest in international studies stemmed from the constant travel which also allowed her the opportunity to volunteer and intern in prestigious organizations. In 2010, Narwan was given the privilege of interning with NGO Department of Public Information to the United Nations in New York. While interning for the Permanent Mission of Afghanistan, Narwan realized her passion is helping her countrymen, particularly the women of Afghanistan. She will continue to pursue this goal of aiding vulnerable women through a non-governmental organization.
