Nicholas-Scoufaras-photoA New York City native, Nicholas Scoufaras was born and raised in Astoria, Queens. Currently an upper sophomore in the Honors Program, Nicholas is majoring in international studies with a minor in public policy. In high school, Nicholas volunteered for the organization Hour Children, where he was first exposed to early childhood education and development in a low-income neighborhood. Seeing the problems faced by both the organization and the community sparked his interest in public policy, where he later found his calling in international relations. Currently an upper sophomore in the Honors Program, Nicholas is majoring in international studies with a minor in public policy. He got his first taste of public service after being selected for the Rosenberg-Humphrey Scholarship for Public Policy, which supported a summer internship with Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen in Washington, D.C. Inspired by his experiences on Capitol Hill, Nicholas continued his policy focus by securing an internship with the nonprofit organization NYC Global Partners, housed in the Mayor’s Office. Nicholas is the co-president and co-founder of CCNY’s Interfaith Cross Cultural Student Alliance. As public management fellow, he will be interning with the House Committee on Foreign Affairs during the summer of 2012, and plans to pursue a master’s degree in conflict resolution.
