Colin Powell Fellow, 2012-2014

Norhan-Mohammed-photoNorhan Mohammed, a Sophie Davis student of Egyptian heritage, has always wanted to be a primary care physician and to open her own clinic in Harlem. For this reason, along with majoring in biomedical education, she has also pursued a minor in business management and administration. Her minor has made her a competent leader who can employ all available resources to reach her goal, which for her is attaining social justice in our health care system so that people do not have to choose between their health and a medical bill. At City College, Norhan advocates for students’ rights as Undergraduate Student Government Treasurer. Her work with Peer Health Exchange (PHE) has shown her the effectiveness of disease prevention, and allowed her to interact with youth in the community and address the lack of health education in high schools in NYC. After graduating, Norhan wants to pursue a Master of Public Health while attending medical school to become a doctor who is not only knowledgeable about practicing medicine, but can tailor medical services to any underserved community.
