Tanya Uddin
Dobrich New Americans Scholar, 2012-2014
Tanya Uddin, a native of Bangladesh, is a biomedical engineering student at the Grove School of Engineering. An immigrant to the United States who came to this country when she was 2, Tanya hopes to improve negative views of immigrants living in the United States. She is an activist for the Dream Act and has attended multiple marches and rallies to inform Americans about the bill and how it could change the lives of immigrants. For the last two years she has been a part of the orientation leadership program at CCNY. Her scholarly interests focus on math, science, and writing. She also takes a great interest in policymaking regarding immigration laws and policy. Tanya’s goal is to inform and educate people about immigration laws and have a role in the policymaking process.
