Yosef-Dastagirzada-photoYosef Michael Dastagirzada is a fourth-year medical student at the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education. He is the son of an Afghani father and Ecuadorian mother, both of whom migrated to the United States with their families in hopes of more opportunities. His family has been instrumental in teaching him the importance of caring for humanity and doing his best to improve the lives of those who cross his path. His passion for medicine, specifically global health, has driven him to travel to Honduras and Costa Rica, where he helped lead a Global Medical Brigade and volunteered in a nursing home. Yosef’s goals in life consist of becoming a successful pediatrician in hopes of curing the ill, obtaining a Master’s in Public Health to advocate for policy changes in hopes of preventing chronic disease, and teaching future generations of medical students to inspire them to become compassionate leaders at the forefront of their field.
