Chrysothemis Kishore
Dobrich New Americans Scholar, 2009-2011
Chrys othemis Kishore, a native of Guyana, is a student in the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education. Chrys immigrated to Brooklyn as a child and eventually attended Brooklyn Technical High School. There she participated in the NYU School of Medicine High School Fellows Program, an experience that exposed her to health-care disparity issues and motivated her to become a physician. At CCNY, Chrys has tutored high school students in the Urban Scholars program and has participated as a Harlem 40 mentor. Chrys also has worked with a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting for comprehensive health care for illegal immigrants who, because of their status, have no access to quality health care. Chrys’s goal is to increase access to and the effectiveness of public service programs that address health-care disparities and related inequalities.
