Hongzhi Zou
Dobrich New Americans Scholar, 2009-2011
Hongzhi Zou, a native of Nanchang, China, received her associate’s degree in economics from the Nanjing University of Science and Technology. After graduating, she spent five years working for a joint-venture construction corporation in Shanghai before emigrating to Germany. There she discovered an interest in environmental issues. In 2007, Hongzhi moved to the United States, enrolled at CCNY the following year to pursue a B.A. in Earth Science. Hongzhi’s goal is to tap scientific investigation and interdisciplinary collaboration to help maintain environmental sustainability. She also hopes to assist in developing policies related to this issue. Hongzhi’s eventual goal is to share her knowledge at the academic level, enabling students in the next generation to contribute to an environmentally sound world.
