Powell School Receives Challenge Grant
Stavros S. Niarchos Foundation issues a challenge grant of $220,000.The Colin L. Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership is delighted to announce that the Stavros S. Niarchos Foundation has issued a $220,000 challenge grant in support of the school’s endowment. Under the terms of the grant, the school has two years to meet the challenge by securing additional endowment funds in the amount of $220,000.
The grant is designed to enhance the academic, student engagement, and public programming of the school, and it will become part of the overall endowment funds managed by the Colin L. Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership. The school, established on April 29 by a unanimous vote by the board of trustees of the City University of the New York, includes the departments of the former City College Division of Social Sciences (anthropology, economics and business, political science, psychology, and sociology) and specialized programs such as International Studies, International Relations, Latin American and Latino Studies, Public Service Management, and the Skadden Arps Honors Program in Legal Studies.
