GENERAL
DUTIES The
Senior Vice President is a member of senior executive management in a College
or Unit and serves as a member of the President's Cabinet. As a high-level
executive, he/she has broad responsibility for one or more major divisions.
He/she incorporates innovative practices into plans and strategies and
collaborates with other College and University executives, and outside
organizations as needed, to develop appropriate policy and acquire
resources. He/she is a dynamic leader of an executive team responsible
for personnel, budget, operations, and communications. CONTRACT

SPECIFIC INFORMATION The
City College of New York (CCNY) is a comprehensive teaching, research, and
service institution dedicated to accessibility and excellence in undergraduate
and graduate education. Long considered the flagship campus of the City
University of New York public university system with over 16,000 students and
about 600 full-time faculty, CCNY provides its diverse student body

CCNY seeks an extraordinary academic leader as Provost and Senior Vice
President to lead the academic program of the institution. The Provost will be
dynamic and visionary in helping the College to realize its academic and
scholarly mission, to engage its distinguished alumni and local community and
to guide the institution to new levels of achievement and renown. As the
College's chief academic officer, the Provost will provide strategic and
operational leadership as the College delivers on its mission of providing
affordable education and supporting a diverse student population, using its
most valuable resources - its faculty, staff and students - to take a

Qualifications and Requirements
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS This
position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive
positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related
experience. Additional qualifications are defined below by the College. OTHER
QUALIFICATIONS The
successful candidate will have a proven record of academic administrative
achievement to lead and inspire transformational change with the highest level
of integrity. S/he will be a strong, self-assured leader and scholar with the
intellectual stature to inspire the faculty, staff, and students at the College
with a sense of pride, purpose and quality. The successful candidate will be an
educator and a scholar of distinction, with an earned doctorate or equivalent
terminal degree and a record of scholarship, research, and teaching suitable
for appointment as a tenured full professor. S/he will also demonstrate at
least five years' successful academic administrative experience as a chair,
dean, associate or deputy provost or equivalent position.
