Research Center in Minority Institutions (RCMI) at City College
With the support of the National Research Center in Minority Institutions (RCMI) program at the National Institutes of Health, City College has the Center for the Study of the Cellular and Molecular Basis of Development, a center of research excellence designed to increase the number and role of underrepresented scientists in cutting edge research in the fields of molecular biology, biochemistry, and biophysics. Now in its 25th year, the Center has enable CCNY faculty and students to become more research competitive at the molecular level.
The research interest of the Center spans four scientific areas. Area Group I comprises faculty members with an interest in studying the structure and function of bio-molecules. Area Group II is carrying out research on cancer, while Area Group III focuses its attention on developing a basic understanding of molecular events that occur in Neural systems. In addition, Area Group IV is pursuing Immunology-related research.
